The East German version of VEB Carl Zeiss Jena was contracted by the Russian occupying power to make a reverse engineered version of the Contax II and III.  After it was moved to Kiev in Ukraine, the VEB  continued to make a version of the camera and made some examples with lizard skin and an ivory exterior paint to see if it was something that the market would accept.
