The East German version of VEB Carl Zeiss Jena was contracted by the Russian occupying power to make a reverse engineered version of the Contax II and III. After it was moved to Kiev in Ukraine, the VEB continued to make a version of the camera and made some examples with lizard skin and an ivory exterior paint to see if it was something that the market would accept. It was made in very limited numbers.
