Nobel Prize winner Allvar Gullstrand cooperates with Carl Zeiss Jena beginning in 1901 with regard to Ophthalmology. Together they invent the slit lamp which brought observation of the eye to a new, higher level and was the beginning of a new scientific department at Zeiss.
