Professor Emanuel Goldberg invented many things but the most interesting may well be the first electronic document retrieval system which he designed for microfilm but would be analogous to a modern digital application. This article provides a clear narrative on the importance of this concept that was halted due to the advance of the Hitler regime and World War II.
