Carl Zeiss Jena grew as a firm into a creator and a manufacturer of many unique optical and mechanical instruments. They created many products useful to other manufacturers and the Neophot was an example of such a product. It was a metallograph which was a mechanical yet microscopical product to evaluate the structure of metals and alloys.
