A Contax III Factory hybrid – 1988 article revisited

A Contax III was seemingly sent to Zeiss Ikon Stuttgart for repairs. The camera was returned with 6 perforations on the meter cover and replacement and more modern parts for the meter’s adjustment. On the same page is a much later Contina II with a similar perforated meter cover (2 holes) on this 1954-8 camera.

A Contax horror story

A tale of seeing a style of Contax II seen only in the advertising of the mid-1930’s where the lens cell logo was on the bezel in front of the rangefinder front window. The author saw it very early in his collecting experience and since it was in poor condition, he passed on buying it. He still regrets it as none other have been found.

A biogrpahy of the first head of Zeiss Ikon design, the senior management personality at Zeiss Ikon in the 1930s, at Carl Zeiss Jena during World War II and later Carl Zeiss Oberkochen. The lead designing personality in the early days of Zeiss Ikon and father of many  groundbreaking Contax rangefinder designs.
