Keeping the Tradition (Telescopes)

Published in Spring 1989  Zeiss Historica Journal

Author: Nicholas Grossman

See Page 10 – 11.

The author traces the basic amateur telescope (a 60 mm Asegur)  from the early 1900s to the postwar period where it was noted as the Telementor in East Germany (The West German Zeiss did not resume manufacture of amateur telescopes after World War II). An interesting aspect is the valuation of the telescope when compared to the same purchase price as a bar of an ounce of gold at equal dates.
