The author is a life long resident of Jena. He chronicles the development of extreme wide angle lenses beginning with the Goerz Hypergon to Dr. Robert Richter’s creation of the Topogon aerial camera lens which was adapted by Bausch and Lomb to the Metrogon and by Richter himself to a rare lens for the Contax 35 mm camera. He would later adapted it again to a ultra wide angle lens that was named the Pleogon
