The author reviews a long conversation with retired Carl Zeiss Jena engineer, Wolfgang Hahn. Hahn was the leader of the project to build the workshop in Kiev and teach the workers in Ukraine the methods to build the former Contax camera. He left a year before the assembly line that pre-dated the Jena Contax was taken in September 1947.

Dr. Bauersfeld was an important management of technical staff at Carl Zeiss Jena. His scientists covered the entire spectrum of optical and mechanical endeavors. His personal areas of expertise were quite diverse as he invented the Zeiss Planerarium projector, microscope models, special lighting projects among others.
